Miami-Dade County collaborates with MIT to launch healthcare A.I. hub Global Co- Creation Lab

Amy Martinez | 7/30/2021

In November 2019, Miami-Dade County joined with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to launch Global Co-Creation Lab, a Miami-based non-profit that aims to bring together entrepreneurs, scientists and investors to solve community health challenges. The outbreak of COVID-19 several months later highlighted the need to better predict and combat pandemics using artificial intelligence, says the lab’s executive director, Alejandro Roman.

Roman says the lab ultimately hopes to make Miami a global hub for artificial intelligence in the health care sector. “We’re going to have another pandemic. How are we going to be safer? How are we going to be more resilient? That’s the job,” he says.
